Other Cat Owners Share Their Cats' Names...

Peanut: I once had a cat that I named Peanut.  He was an orange tabby, so it was an appropriate name, but the reason I chose his name is that I got him on election day in 1976.  Know who won that election and what he was "famous" for?  It was Jimmy Carter and, besides being the former governor of Georgia, he was a peanut farmer!

Peanut lived a long life; nearly 17 years (through several presidential elections!) and was a wonderful companion.  I'll tell you about my current cats another time.

I love your site.  Great job!

Gypsy: I chose my cat's name because it was different then all of the other names. She is a calico and her colors are very dark instead of light.

Zach: I chose my cats name because that was the first name that came to my mind.

Spare Parts: Our neighbor moved away and left their three cats to fend for themselves.
One day the three cats came to our back door begging for food. The leader of the pack was a brown and white tabby we dubbed Macavity (unfortunately for my dad, we took all three of them in even though we had two cats at the time!). Then there was a black and white cat who we oh, so originally, named Oreo, and then there was the third cat. She was a creamy white with black ears, a brown tabby tail, orange eyes, with black lips and pink nose. She was a strangely beautiful cat, and I can't tell you how hard it was to name her. One day we got tired of saying "here kitty" and my mom said to me " Let's just name her Spare Parts!" and I said "Yea! That's actually really good!" And so for the remaining years of her short life she was affectionately called Spare Parts.
