Munchkin

There are both shorthair and longhair Munchkins. The name was taken from the "little people" in the Wizard of Oz. The first Munchkins were strays who were named Blueberry and Blackberry, and were found in Louisiana.

Munchkins have very short legs and long backs. They can get along quite well with other cats and dogs and are friendly. They can be taught to play "fetch" and are active. They can climb trees and play, but their short legs make them limited in jumping high.

The semi-longhair Munchkins need very little grooming. They can do with a weekly brushing and combing.

All colors for coats and eyes are accepted with this special breed. They are bred in the USA and in France.
